Congratulations to Ed & Joan Swan on the birth of their great-granddaughter, Kambrie Elyse Lingo. Kambrie was born on September 1st in Wiggins, CO.

 

The church council is forming a call committee and is looking for 4 volunteers from the congregation to serve on the committee. If you are interested, please contact any council member.

 

Emmanuel will be offering Sunday School this fall for children in pre-school through 6th grade. They will meet as one class after church starting on September 17th. The plan is for a Bible story along with a coloring page or song.  If interest is shown, a Christmas program might also be presented.  We're looking forward to seeing and working with the youth of our congregation!   Volunteers are welcome!

 

Deb Martin and Amy West will be hosting a class on Oils of Ancient Scripture on Sunday, September 17th at 4:00 pm in the church basement. This will be a way to learn what Oils are mentioned in the Bible and getting us back to God's way of natural wellness, plus the Bible verses that mention those oils! Ask a friend and join us! Open to any that would like to come. If you have any questions please call Deb @ 785-821-2140. Hope to see you there!

 

School Kits: We are in need of all supplies for the school kits. Lists are on the table in the back of the church. Please have supplies to the church by Friday, September 22nd. FOUR 70-sheet notebooks of wide- or college-ruled paper, approximately 8" x 10 ½"; no loose leaf paper; ONE 30-centimeter ruler, or a ruler with centimeters on one side and inches on the other; ONE pencil sharpener; ONE pair of blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades work well); FIVE unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers; secure together with a rubber band; FIVE black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); secure together with a rubber band; ONE box of 16 or 24 crayons; ONE 2 ½" eraser; ONE sturdy drawstring backpack-style cloth bag, approximately 14" x 17" with shoulder straps (no standard backpacks).

 

Lutheran Brotherhood will be meeting at Gambino's at 7pm on Wednesday, September 27th.

 

SAVE THE DATE! Heartland District Women of the Word 2017 Retreat "It's All About Relationships!" Saturday, September 30, 2017 First St. Paul's Lutheran Church Hastings, Nebraska. Speaker:  Sue Brown will talk about Humor and Love, Mission Emphasis:  Ministry to Jamaica and Horizon Recovery/Revive Ministry, In Service Project:  Assembling hygiene kits, Special music and ministry presentations

 

Ruth Circle will meet Thursday, October 5th @ 5:30 p.m. @ Gambino's

 

The first Fellowship of Christian Athletes lunch for this school year will be Wednesday, October 11th at noon. If you would like to help prepare and/or serve, please let Shelly know.

SAVE THE DATE! All area congregations are invited to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brewster on Sunday, October 29th for a 500th Anniversary of Reformation event. There will be a Communion Service at 4 p.m. CT, a possible guest speaker, Reformation Book Fair, and then a German meal and fellowship. Additional details coming soon.
