Weekly Update

Fern Heckman will be back in town for a few days and would love to see everyone! She will be at the Butterfly Cafe at 9:00am on Wednesday, June 28th. Please let Mildred Gutsch (820-2783) or Faye Paxton (821-0799) know if you can join for breakfast, so they can have space reserved.  

 

Please join us on Thursday, June 29th at 6:00 p.m. for a Bible School Program with a potluck to follow! Come see what Sky Ranch is sharing with our youth! Please bring a dish or two to share at the potluck.


Please note a change in hours this week: Today 8 a.m. to noon and Friday 9 a.m. to noon. Shelly will be out of the office on Wednesday for her grandmother's funeral.

Goodland Youth Feed My Starving Children will be hosting a MobilePack on July 15th. For more information or to sign up to volunteer go here: www.fmsc.org/mobilepack, go to Kansas and click on Get Involved.

LCMC Heartland District annual gathering will be July 21-22 in Columbus, NE. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Marney Fritts of Seward, NE. Dr. Fritts is an LCMC pastor and professor for St. Paul Lutheran Seminary. She will share with us how the events of the Lutheran Reformation, 500 years ago, continue to shape and influence the Lutheran Church today. Saturday will also include a business meeting for the Heartland District. Each congregation is encouraged to send their pastor and a minimum of one lay delegate. If you would like more information or to register to attend, please talk to Robin Deeds or Shelly Willems.

 

SAVE THE DATE! Heartland District Women of the Word 2017 Retreat "It's All About Relationships!" Saturday, September 30, 2017 First St. Paul's Lutheran Church Hastings, Nebraska. Speaker:  Sue Brown will talk about Humor and Love, Mission Emphasis:  Ministry to Jamaica and Horizon Recovery/Revive Ministry, In Service Project:  Assembling hygiene kits, Special music and ministry presentations

 

CARING AND SHARING…It's time to start collecting donations for Lutheran World Relief. Containers will be placed in the back of the sanctuary to gather items for personal care kits, school kits, and baby care kits. Monetary gifts are also appreciated and can be given to any WOE board member. Lists of needed items can be found in the WOE yearbook and on the table in the back of the church. We have an abundance of baby caps so we won't be collecting those. THANK YOU for your donations!

We still have cookbooks available! If you would like a cookbook, please let Shelly Willems in the office know. You get a FREE digital copy of the cookbook with your purchase!

Friendly Friday Update

Sky Ranch Traveling Day Camp (aka VBS) will be June 26-30. There will be no preschool classes this year. We are in need of adult and/or youth volunteers to help each day. We are still in need of the following: Breakfast-Simple breakfast foods can be left at the church for the counselors to fix themselves; Lunch-Fixings for sandwiches, salads, chips, etc.; Evening meal-Wednesday evening is still available; Thursday potluck-2 or 3 people to help set up and clean up after the program potluck.  Please let the office know if you can help in any of these capacities.

Sympathy of the congregation is extended to Duane & Alberta Coash in the loss of their sister-in-law, Reva Coash. Reva passed away June 22nd in Clyde, KS. Please keep Reva's family in your thoughts and prayers.

Friendly Friday Update

Note a change in next Wednesday's hours: Church office will be open 9:00 A.M. to Noon on Tuesday (20), 8:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. Wednesday (21), and 9:00 A.M. to Noon Friday (23) 


Please bring your filled Baby Bottles for Kansans for Life to church on Sunday.

Weekly Update

Please bring your filled Baby Bottles for Kansans for Life to church on Sunday. 

Baby Bottle Project: On Mother's Day and for the last couple of Sundays the Baby Bottle Project has been available with the bottles having the sample prayers for families to pray each week while collecting spare change for donation to Kansans for Life.  On Father's Day, the families bring back their bottles with their spare change donation to Kansans for Life.  Each year, the Baby Bottle Project funds a pro-life educational project.   Thank you to each of the families for participating in the Baby Bottle Project.   Alberta Coash

Please keep Marilyn's family in your thoughts and prayers.

 

Emmanuel has the privilege of delivering Meals on Wheels June 1-15. All slots are currently filled. Thank you all for volunteering!
